Colby's Atlas of Hancock County Maine 1881

Measures approximately 14 3/4 x 17 1/2 x 1 inches.

This is a Reading Copy in excellent shape for its age. It appears to have been restored by someone familiar with archival bookbinding techniques. The interior pages are all intact, with some waviness (possible previous minor water damage?), browning, age spots, a few minor tears/chips (1cm or less), and turned corners on some pages. Otherwise, all maps are in quite lovely condition for being almost 140 years old. Please see all photos before bidding.

At the very start of the Atlas appears the Hancock County Map, Mining Map and the City of Ellsworth Plan maps . Town Maps to include: Amherst, Aurora, Blue Hill (spelled Bluehill), Brooklin, Brooksville, Bucksport, Castine, Cranberry Isles (or Island s), Deer Isle, Dedham, Eastbrook, Franklin, Gouldsborough, Hancock, Isle au Haut, Lamoine, Mariaville, Mount Desert Island (Eden, Mt. Desert and Tremont), Orland, Otis, Penobscot, Sedgwick, Sullivan, Surry, Trenton, Verona and Waltham.
